Make Vera BAIRD your first choice for Police & Crime Commissioner. May 5th 2016.

Northumbria has a great community spirit, since being elected as your Police & Crime Commissioner, I have worked closely with local residents, councillors, businesses and voluntary sector to ensure your policing priorities are addressed.

I’ve worked hard to ensure that tackling Anti-Social Behaviour remains high on the policing agenda. Right across Northumbria, police officers work in partnership with organisations to ensure the minority who cause a problem know their behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Our work has been recognised by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary as being outstanding in the way we tackle anti-social behaviour. I have also ensured that Northumbria leads the way in tackling domestic abuse / violence, a regional strategy has been implemented and police officers are better trained to offer support and advice to victims.

Neighbourhood Policing is your number one priority and it’s mine, I’ve brought police officers closer to you. Police stations have been relocated to community hubs, making police officers more accessible and all savings have been reinvested back into policing.

I will always ensure victims of crime remain at the heart of everything we do and they get the support they need. I’m proud that we are getting it right, as we have a satisfaction rate of 91%, the highest in the country – but I want this figure even higher.

Since 2010, the Tories (supported by the Lib Dems) have cut more than £100 million from Northumbria Police budget. Despite these challenges, I will continue to ensure your priorities are delivered by Northumbria Police.

Northumbria deserves the very best policing, I have always tried to deliver this and if re-elected, I will continue to ensure effective policing is delivered for you and your family. I hope I can count on your first choice vote. Vote BAIRD, Vote LABOUR. May 5th 2016.

If you are voting by post, you will need to post your ballot paper by May 2nd – otherwise you can cast your vote at the ballot box.
